| Description: | POSITION PURPOSE: To perform cleaning responsibilities in the Museum Center.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The Custodian will maintain the physical appearance of offices, restrooms and public spaces within the Museum Center.

| Duties: | REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS:
1. Physical Requirements & Activities:
•Heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
•Ability to perform repetitive tasks
•Ability to follow oral and written instructions
•Ability to work effectively with others
•Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with guest and staff
•Ability to concentrate and attend to details
•Ability to organize work to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner
•Ability to read and speak English
2. Environmental Conditions:
•Hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, operating machines, electrical current, exposure to high heat, exposure to chemicals
•Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Cleaning and emptying trash in the Museum Center offices and work areas, public areas, break room and maintaining the restrooms
•Providing support to Conner Prairie’s recycling program
•Cleans, polishes, and disinfects lavatories, fixtures, urinals, commodes, and mirrors; cleans walls and replenishes supplies in bathrooms
•Maintaining the restrooms outside the visitor’s entrance/exit to Clowes Common
•Maintaining the entrances to the Museum Center: front door, Eatery ramp entrance and Employee Entrances
•Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and polishes floors and stairs; cleans walls and baseboards; washes windows
•Collects trash to put in dumpsters; maintains cleanliness of dumpster area; sweeps and cleans walkways; removes snow from walks
•Keeping all supply rooms at the Museum Center stocked
•Uphold the mission and policies of Conner Prairie
•Maintain attendance standards
•Encourage and perform actions that create a positive working environment
•Communicate effectively with others
•Adhere to Conner Prairie Conduct and Work Rules
•Practice safe work habits
•Responds to inquiries and provides directions to buildings and personnel; reports damages to appropriate personnel regarding buildings, facilities, and safety equipment
•Other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: | QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Ability to work independently
•Previous cleaning experience preferred
