Description:POSITION PURPOSE: To provide engaging experiences through scripted and extemporaneous theater presentations.

NATURE AND SCOPE: The Museum Theater Performer provides Conner Prairie audiences with unique and engaging theatrical presentations. Museum Theater Performer may portray a fictional character from the past in order to provide a rich historical interaction with guests. They will engage guests through scripted performances. This is a part-time position. Some weekends and holidays are required.
Duties:PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Perform scripted and improvisational theater pieces for the public
•Interact with the public using historically accurate and engaging techniques
•Communicate to the public about the everyday life of the people of the past
●Work well with adult and youth volunteers
•Adheres and supports Conner Prairie’s Mission, Values Statements and Code of Conduct
•Other duties as assigned; not limited to those within the scope of this position

Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Bachelor’s Degree in History, Museum Studies, Education, Theater or a related area preferred, or similar relevant experience
•Outgoing, cheerful and engaging personality
•Enjoy working with youth, families and adults
•Ability to work in a team structure
•Show flexibility and creativity in support of park activities
•Ability to work in a wide range of performance conditions (including varying audience sizes and needs)
•Improvisational skills
•Ability to memorize scripted passages, to project voice and to take artistic direction
•Ability to synthesize responsibilities with an awareness for their impact on the park as a whole
•Group-management skills
