JOB TITLE: Art Camp Counselor
REPORTS TO: Manager, Camp Programs
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Seasonal Full-time

POSITION PURPOSE: To provide primary care and to implement Conner Prairie's Art Camp program with assigned campers

NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: Art Camp’s mission is to provide a safe, fun, memorable and unique camp experience where children can come face to face with the history and culture of American communities through the hands-on mediums of art, crafts and other activities. The Art Camp Counselor is responsible for a group of campers and working with co-counselors to plan and implement daily projects and activities. Work will be both outside and inside depending on the weather and activity. Counselors work closely with the camp office staff in order to implement weekly program schedules.
Duties:PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Place safety and well-being of campers as primary importance
•Serve as role model for campers
•Attend a week of camp training
•Implement an approved weekly program schedule for assigned campers
•Work with co-counselors to provide a quality, well-rounded Art Camp program for campers
•Communicate any changes in the approved weekly program schedule to the camp office
•Prepare, implement and clean-up daily activities
•Check and maintain camp facilities, equipment and personal first aid kit on a daily basis
•Communicate any supply needs to the camp assistant and/or Manager
•Maintain check-in and checkout records for all assigned campers on a daily basis
•Record daily attendance of assigned campers and report any absences, late arrivals, or early departures to the camp office
•Assist all campers with special needs as outlined by ADA requirements
•Respond as needed to any medical/emergency needs of the campers and staff
•Arrive on time and ready for work each day
•Follow camp dress code
•Create and foster a positive team attitude
•Adhere to Conner Prairie’s rules of conduct
•Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
•Counselors must be 18 years of age or older
•High school diploma (one semester of college is preferred but not required)
•Current Basic First Aid and CPR certifications (training will be provided by Conner Prairie)
•Art majors/art experience preferred
•Must be able to commit to all nine weeks of camp
