JOB TITLE: Camp First Aid Specialist
REPORTS TO: Manager, Camp Programs
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Seasonal Full-time
POSITION PURPOSE: To provide on-site minor medical care and to manage the camp's first aid program
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The Mission of Adventure Camp and Art Camp is to provide a safe, fun, memorable and unique camp experience where children can come face to face with the history and culture of American communities through such hands-on mediums as crafts and games as well as experience other exciting outdoor activities. The First Aid Specialist is responsible for the first aid program and ensuring the health of campers and staff. Work will be inside and outside. In addition, the First Aid Specialist must respond to all emergencies occurring within the camp program. This person must be able to effectively communicate with parents and campers alike. The daily work is often changing and requires a flexible person who is able to prioritize.

| Duties: | PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Place safety and well-being of campers and staff as primary importance
•Serve as role model for campers and counselors
•Provide on-site care, observation and evaluation for sick campers and staff, including traveling to the hospital or doctor's office with any injured campers or staff
•Actively assist in staff training week and training as needed throughout the summer
•Document and maintain records of all first aid treatments and medications dispensed
•Control and administer all camper and staff medications
•Review and maintain files of all camper and staff medical forms and waivers
•Maintain inventory of all camp first aid supplies and order supplies as needed
•Check and maintain first aid related facilities, equipment, and personal first aid kit on a daily basis
•Provide supplies to staff for individual 1st aid kits as needed
•Provide information and support camp staff on all medical and health matters and collaborate with camp office staff on any medical or health related matters
•Report daily to Camp Manager any first aid treatments or health issues
•Assist all campers with special needs as outlined by ADA requirements
•Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the camp first aid room
•Follow camp dress code
•Conduct any needed communication with the parents of campers in medical or health matters
•Act as a substitute counselor as staffing levels require
•Arrive on time and ready for work each day
•Create and foster a positive team attitude
•Adhere to Conner Prairie’s rules of conduct
•Any other duties as assigned

| Qualifications: | QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
•The applicant must be 21 years of age or older
•Current LPN, RN or an Advanced First Aid certification (EMT) or Basic First Aid and 2 years of relevant experience
•Strong organizational skills
•Must be able to commit to all nine weeks of camp
