POSITION PURPOSE: To supervise and assist in the proper set-up, service, and tear down of catering functions in the various venues of Conner Prairie.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The Banquet Captain must have flexibility as a team player with capabilities and organizational skills to handle multiple functions simultaneously. This individual must be able to organize and direct a large staff while utilizing their individual efforts to achieve a common goal. This employee oversees contracted catering staff to ensure the arrival of the appropriate food items, wares (plates, silverware, etc.), and number of service staff. During an event this member is also the client liaison and handles all questions and concerns.

| Duties: | PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Ensure all banquet rooms are set properly for the day
•Meet with client coordinator to verify all set ups and timing information
•Finalize all function details at least one half hour prior to client arrival
•Monitor all functions throughout the day
•Responsible for guest satisfaction through follow-up service inquiries and quick response to guest concerns
•Monitor the appearance, service, behavior and overall performance of all event staff
•Daily attention to appropriate personal hygiene and appearance
•Maintain professional attitude towards guests and employees
•Monitor labor usage for event and keep staff focused and efficient in their tasks
•Adhere to Conner Prairie rules of conduct
•Other duties as assigned

| Qualifications: | QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
•Knowledge of banquet set-up and tear-down procedures
•Previous experience in catering and banquets
•Outstanding customer service focus
•Possession of a valid alcohol permit
•Proof of completion of a safe alcohol service class (completed after 1/1/2010)
•ServSafe certification a plus
